As soon as you receive notification that you have been awarded the Health Science Capacity Building Grant, you need to complete the Institute registrations and hotel reservations.  The Registration and Institute Information is available for download by using the following link:   HSE13.2

Special – Faculty Student Loan Repayment Opportunity

Health professions faculty from disadvantaged backgrounds can receive up to a maximum of $40,000 towards repayment of their student loans in exchange for educating tomorrow’s clinicians.

Individuals selected to participate in the program agree to serve on the faculty of an accredited health professions college or university for 2 years. The Government pays up to a maximum of $40,000 of the participant’s student loans and provides funds to offset the tax burden

Becky Beckett – Education Hero

Becky Beckett, a science teacher at Nordhoff High School in Ojai, CA, has been nominated for her outstanding work with students.  Becky is responsible for the High School Health Science Academy.

The Academy is a four year program that students begin in their freshman year. Over the course of the program students learn Anatomy, Physiology, CPR and life lessons from Emergency Services professionals, Health Care Providers, Public Health and Private Practice Professionals.

The courses provided at the Health Science Academy help students develop the confidence, skills and real world experience they need when deciding to pursue a career in the healthcare industry.  Becky and the staff at Nordhoff are working on a goal to insure they will graduate thirty students a year from this outstanding program.

Nordhoff and the Health Science Academy have done an exceptional job with training and career support for their students.
